When going to a new dentist I’m always hesitant, but walking into this dentistry Emily greeted me with a kind smile. She got me all checked in and I had a seat. I was called back by Dr Mena (i was surprised, typically dental assistants call patients back) she introduced herself and escorted me to the exam room and where I waited for Yuliya to do X-rays and cleaning. Yuliya was very sweet and me feel very comfortable. Dr. Mena came back in and was very detailed and explained everything she was going to do during the exam. Her bedside manner was superb! I have never felt more comfortable at a dentist than I do Vancouver Smiles Dentistry. If you are looking for a new dentist, this is the one! 🥰

TLDR; Vancouver Smiles changed my life for the better. My oral health journey started 6-7 years ago. At that time, I had already been needing to get my wisdom teeth removed for quite some time, I had cavities, and was generally not taking good care of my teeth, gums, etc. On top of all of that, I had SEVERE dental anxiety, which caused me to avoid taking the first steps to get all of this taken care of. One day, I somehow got the courage to at least make an appointment at a chain dentist’s office that I will not name. I decided I could stomach going in to take care of one thing at a time. That way, I was never there for long, and to me, that seemed tolerable. I managed to see them a handful of times before I stopped going altogether. My experience there was not bad, but it was very clinical and impersonal, and I now realize they said I had a lot more cavities than I actually did. Due to my wisdom teeth being SO impacted, the vibrations and work done to my molars during my last appointment there resulted in severe pain. That was the last time I saw a dentist before I was all but forced to start taking care of my oral health in 2024. Flash forward to May/June 2024, my wisdom teeth were as far impacted as humanly possible, and now they were deteriorating to the point of breakage. They were cavity-ridden, spreading cavities to the surrounding teeth, and causing me severe pain to the point where it became clear that I had no choice now but to suck it up and get the surgery over with. I had that surgery in July 2024. After that, it was time to start taking care of my other issues. I knew I had cavities, at least one root canal needed, and other to-be-diagnosed issues. I prioritized calling dentist offices to explain to them that I had severe dental anxiety. I wanted to get a feel for their response to gauge how they take care of their patients. As you may have guessed, I landed on Vancouver Smiles. I am happy to say now that all of my cavities and root canals have been addressed, and I am current on my periodontal cleanings. I saw Vancouver Smiles at least 10 times over the span of 6 months, and every time I felt extremely cared for and confident that I was receiving quality work. The office team was always flexible with me and would take the time to answer any of my millions of questions. The dental work team was always so nice, personable, and caring. They made sure to always walk me through what they were doing and help me feel at ease. By my 3rd appointment, with them, I no longer felt dread in advance of my upcoming appointments. By my last appointment with them, I felt confident that I would not be letting my oral health fall to the wayside again because I no longer felt so scared. I would not have gotten there without them, and the ONLY reason I am not seeing them anymore is because I moved away. Thank you to everyone – Emily, Chelsea, Vera, Sean (Shawn?), Dr Mena, and all others. I truly am so grateful.

Moved here from California and used to hate going to the dentist…but I called in for an emergency procedure when one of my molars cracked and not only did they take me in, but they had me on a scheduled plan to resolve the issue within a few hours of my first visit! Megan was an incredible help with my insurance and they’re so prepared/transparent with everything. I now come regularly and Stephanie Do, my hygienist, has me on a consistent cleaning schedule. My oral health has been the best it’s ever been and I actually look forward to going to the dentist now!

What is the Mouth-Body Connection® ?

The Mouth-Body Connection® refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role that the harmful bacteria and inflammation in our mouths play in chronic, systemic disease. That’s why it’s time we talked about more than your teeth. Our office prioritizes your overall health as it relates to your oral health. When we care for your smile we’re also looking out for your entire self.
